Tashkent conference - an international platform for solving topical issues of the Afghan problem

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent conference is an international platform for solving topical issues of the Afghan problem. This assessment was made by the US Special Representative for Afghanistan, Thomas West, as part of the ongoing international conference "Afghanistan: security and economic development". 

According to him, the platform of the Tashkent Forum provides an excellent opportunity to discuss and assist in solving the most pressing issues of the Afghan problem.

According to Thomas West, the world community is interested in the provisional government of Afghanistan to conduct an effective fight against terrorism, which has already achieved some success in this direction.

At the same time, he stressed that Washington remains committed to helping stabilize the Afghan economy. According to him, thanks to the decisive actions of the international community, it was possible to prevent the gravest humanitarian crisis in the country and survive the winter.

At the same time, it was noted that the United States remains the largest donor of humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, having provided US$1 billion since August 2021. Washington is also working with the Central Bank and the government of Afghanistan to unfreeze state funds.

Special representatives for Afghanistan from more than 20 states of Central and South Asia, Europe, America, the Middle East, the Asia-Pacific region, specialists from international and regional organizations such as the UN, EU, FAO, ECO, OIC, SCO take part in the event.
