Sugar Imports in Uzbekistan Surge 2.5 Times in Early 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In January–February 2026, Uzbekistan imported 111,400 tons of sugar valued at US$71.7 million, nearly 2.56 times the volume of the same period in 2025, when imports reached 44,500 tons worth US$22.2 million, according to data from the Uzbekistan Customs Committee.
The total volume and value of sugar imports reflect a significant increase, indicating growing domestic demand.
Tashkent remained the leading region in both volume and value, receiving 72,750 tons of sugar worth US$48.67 million, compared to 39,760 tons worth US$19.54 million in January–February 2025, representing an 83% increase in volume and a 149% rise in value.
Khorezm region boosted imports from 4,200 tons (US$2.35 million) to 16,340 tons (US$10.35 million), up 289% in volume and 340% in value. Fergana region imported 6,300 tons worth US$3.98 million, a more than 23-fold increase in volume and 28-fold in value, while Andijan region rose 16-fold in volume to 3,600 tons valued at US$2.28 million.
Tashkent province’s imports increased from 20 tons (US$12.6 thousand) to 2,870 tons (US$1.79 million). In Karakalpakstan, imports reached 787.5 tons worth US$491 thousand, up from 70.3 tons worth US$39.4 thousand a year earlier.
Other regional sugar imports included Kashkadarya with 3,006.2 tons (US$1.93 million), Namangan 1,958.5 tons (US$1.27 million), Bukhara 3,517.2 tons (US$785 thousand), Samarkand 111.7 tons (US$79.8 thousand), and Syrdarya 134.9 tons (US$82.2 thousand).
