Some regions of Uzbekistan to specialize in floriculture

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The President’s Resolution "On the further development of floriculture and nursery industries in the regions of the republic" was adopted.

According to the resolution, Andijan, Izboskan and Altynkul districts of Andijan region, Namangan and Davlatabad districts of Namangan region, Zaamin and Gallyaral districts of Jizzakh region will specialize in floriculture.

In these areas:

flower clusters will be organized as an experiment;

entrepreneurs engaged in floriculture will be provided with land plots ranging from 0.06 hectares to 1 hectare on a lease basis for running a dekhkan farm for 30 years through an open electronic tender;

at least 10% of the funds allocated under the Every Family is an Entrepreneur Program will be directed to the organization of floriculture projects;

citizens included in the "iron notebook", "women’s notebook" and "youth notebook" will be provided for rent through an electronic online auction (on non-agricultural land) or an open electronic tender (on agricultural land) a land plot with an area of 0.5 hectares for the organization of 25 "Training grounds for floriculture" with an area of 0.02 hectares each;

Unemployed, low-income families who have successfully completed training courses at the " Flower Growing Training Grounds” and received a special certificate are leased land plots of 0.06 hectares or more through an electronic online auction (on non-agricultural land) or an open electronic competition (on agricultural land).

From September 1, 2021, 50% of the transport costs of entrepreneurs for the import of raw materials (flower seedlings, seeds, bulbs and cuttings) will be reimbursed, the share of which from the export of flowers in the annual export revenue in 2021-2024 will be at least 30% and more than 100 thousand US dollars.

From the 2022/2023 academic year:

the training of personnel in the specialty of the master’s degree “Floriculture” in agricultural universities will begin;

The Tashkent State Agrarian University, together with the Isparta University of Applied Sciences of the Republic of Turkey, will organize training in the field of ornamental gardening and floriculture.

Large wholesale markets for flowers and seedlings will be organized in Namangan, Samarkand regions and the city of Tashkent.
