Sindh Bank Explores Opening a Branch in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Pakistan’s state-owned Sindh Bank is exploring the prospects of opening a branch in Uzbekistan, according to the Dunyо news agency .

With the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad, an online meeting was held between representatives of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan and Sindh Bank. During the discussions, both sides explored opportunities for cooperation between the banking systems of the two countries.

The meeting included a review of the potential opening of a Sindh Bank branch in Uzbekistan. Deputy Executive Director Asad Ali Shah expressed the bank’s interest in establishing correspondent banking relationships with Uzbek commercial banks, noting that such connections could facilitate financial support for trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Representatives of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan confirmed their readiness to assist in establishing partnerships between Sindh Bank and leading Uzbek banks.

At the initial stage, the Pakistani side plans to coordinate through the RMA (Relationship Management Application) system, a specialized service for managing SWIFT network user relationships. Officials indicated that banking operations could be gradually expanded over time.
