Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Incumbent President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, according to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission (CEC), won the presidential elections, which took place on 24 October.
During a briefing on 25 October, the chairman of the Central Election Commission Zainiddin Nizamkhodjaev said that 16.21 million citizens took part in the voting, which is 80.4% of the total number of voters included in the lists.
In accordance with the Electoral Code of Uzbekistan, this indicates that the presidential elections have taken place.
Incumbent President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev won more than 80.1% of the votes in the presidential elections, Nizamkhodjaev said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev is a candidate from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Business People - the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP).
In accordance with the Electoral Code of Uzbekistan, this gives the right to consider him as the elected head of state.
According to Nizamkhodjaev, the candidate from the Democratic Party "Milliy Tiklanish" Alisher Kadirov received more than 5.5% of the vote, the candidate from the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Maksuda Varisova - 6.6%, the candidate from the Social Democratic Party "Adolat" Bahrom Abdukhalimov - 3.4% and the candidate of the Ecological Party Narzullo Oblomurodov - 4.1%.
