Senators approves a law aimed at regulating relations related to water and water use

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the twentieth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Law “On Amendments and Additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On water and water use” was discussed.

This law strengthens the powers of state authorities and authorities in the field of regulating relations related to water, it is established that the activities of water consumers associations are financed from the annual membership fees of their members, payments for the supply of water and other water services on a contractual basis and other sources not prohibited acts of legislation.

Consumer responsibilities also include the mandatory implementation of digital technologies.

At the same time, enterprises, organizations, institutions and citizens are prohibited from violating the regime of water protection and sanitary protection zones of water bodies.

The obligations of water consumers using water resources for agriculture include such obligations as the effective use of subsidies from the state budget for each project to introduce water-saving technologies for at least five years, as well as the implementation of agrotechnical measures that allow to save water.

It is established that measures to protect against the harmful effects of water, prevent and eliminate harmful effects are carried out at the facilities that are on the balance sheet of organizations financed from the state budget, at the expense of the relevant budgets, and at facilities that are on the balance sheet of water consumers, at their own expense.

Thanks to the implementation of this law, an opportunity will be created to accelerate the implementation of water-saving irrigation technologies and rational use of water, the powers of water consumer associations to regulate water use will be expanded, timely collection of fees for water services provided will be ensured and their financial condition improved, the principles of public-private partnership in use of water facilities and reduction of state budget expenditures and other results.

The law was approved by the senators.
