Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 14 April 2025, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva held a working meeting with a delegation of the European Parliament, led by Tomas Zdechovsky, Chair of the EP Delegation for relations with Central Asian countries.

During the talks, the two sides discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation. They noted the positive dynamics of political dialogue and the strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties between Uzbekistan and the European Union.

Special attention was given to the outcomes of the 150th anniversary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which was successfully held in Tashkent last week. The participation of representatives from 18 European countries served as a clear indicator of EU support. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s address at the Assembly was highlighted as a particularly impactful moment, receiving broad recognition from the international community.

The parties also reviewed the results of the historic "Central Asia–European Union" Summit, held on 4–5 April in Samarkand under the chairmanship of the President of Uzbekistan. In this context, the importance of the agreements reached — including the opening of the regional office of the European Investment Bank in Tashkent — was underscored.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the European Parliament.
