Senate approves law “On the State Defense Order”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At a plenary session, the Senate reviewed and approved the Law “On the State Defense Order.”
The law is aimed at ensuring the country’s defense capability and security, preventing and responding to emergencies, and regulating issues related to the placement of state defense orders, including those involving state secrets.
The document defines the main tasks and mechanisms for the formation, coordination, approval, and execution of the state defense order. Special attention is given to the targeted and efficient use of budgetary funds, taking into account national interests, the level of security threats, and the current military-political situation both globally and in the region.
The law outlines the powers of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Defense Industry Agency, authorized bodies, and contracting entities. In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers is responsible for implementing unified policy in this area and approving the procedures for interaction among all participants in the process.
The law also regulates the submission and coordination of requests for military and dual-use products, which must be completed by July 1 of each year. The state defense order, once approved by a special commission, will be taken into account during the drafting of the State Budget Law.
The adoption of this law establishes a legal foundation for a systematic and transparent approach to defense procurement, supports the assessment of needs, the setting of priorities, and ensures the efficient funding of this sector.
