Scholarship Award Ceremony takes place at WIUT

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26th January 2021, Westminster International University held the first award ceremony for the “Sanjar Chingizovich Djalalov” scholarship.   

Previously, the National Chamber of Innovative Healthcare of Uzbekistan had announced that it would offer a scholarship to cover the tuition fees for the newly launched Master’s degree program MSc in Public Health Science at WIUT.

Professor Djalalov was a strong advocate for the importance of opening a Master's Degree in Public Health at WIUT, and also contributed to the implementation of HTA (Health Technology Assessment) methodology in his home country, following his successful career at the THETA Collaborative (Toronto, Canada).

The award ceremony was attended by the chairman of the National Chamber of Innovative Health of Uzbekistan Rovshan Izamov, the rector of WIUT Bakhrom Mirkasimov, students of Public Health Science, as well as academic staff from the University. The ceremony was also marked by the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the National Chamber of Innovative Health of Uzbekistan and Westminster International University in Tashkent. The purpose of the memorandum is to promote the training of qualified healthcare professionals, to develop long-term and fruitful cooperation, and to exchange information.

The new Master’s degree course in Public Health Science (MSc) was developed by Westminster International University in Tashkent, and validated by the University of Westminster (London), as well as being approved by an external expert from the Department of Health and Natural Sciences at-jB the University of Oxford. The first graduate students will start their studies on January 25, 2021. Upon completion of the course, graduates will earn an MSc in Public Health and become effective public health professionals in a wide range of roles including as practitioners, healthcare professionals, academic teachers, managers or leaders in the public health sector.
