Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the Samarkand Climate Forum, a panel session titled “Sustainable Cities and Climate Challenges: Integrated Planning and Management” brought together leading international and regional experts, government officials, and city administrators to explore strategies for building environmentally sustainable and livable cities.

Participants examined key aspects of sustainable urban development, including the implementation of climate-smart infrastructure, green building and energy efficiency standards, balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility, and mechanisms for financing green infrastructure projects.

Particular attention was given to the role of municipal leaders in implementing climate strategies, as well as the link between urban sustainability and the global commitments made at COP29.

Session participants shared best practices in adaptive urban planning and discussed opportunities to strengthen partnerships between Central Asian cities and international organizations. The meeting resulted in the development of a roadmap for technical and financial support for the sustainable development of cities across the region.

“Creating sustainable cities requires not only innovative solutions but also close collaboration among all stakeholders. Today’s discussion underscored the importance of experience-sharing and working together,” noted Davronjon Adilov.

The event marked an important step forward in advancing global initiatives for climate resilience and adapting urban areas to modern challenges.
