Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 25 August, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with the Regional Director of the UN Development Coordinating Bureau for Europe and Central Asia Gwi Yeop Son, who arrived on a visit to our country.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues and prospects for further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN, highly appreciated the constructive cooperation in many areas of development, including in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN Global Agenda for the period up to 2030.

At the beginning of the conversation, the Chairperson of the Senate, warmly welcoming the visit to our country, acquainted the guest in detail with the ongoing work and the results of large-scale reforms in the country, good neighborly relations, the conditions created in the framework of supporting women, protecting human rights, combating human trafficking and forced labor, and improving legislation .

In particular, it was emphasized that a positive practice of the mechanism of parliamentary control over the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals has been established, systematic work is underway to strengthen national legislation and the organizational and legal framework, develop institutional frameworks taking into account international standards in 16 areas.

In turn, Gwi Yeop Son, thanking for the warm welcome, noted the efforts of Uzbekistan in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals of the Global Agenda.

During the dialogue, which took place in a constructive and practical atmosphere, views were exchanged on the further intensification of cooperation aimed at solving global problems of security, sustainable development, protection and promotion of human rights, as well as strengthening peace.
