Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed plans for the comprehensive development of the capital, focusing on improvements in industrial and transport infrastructure.

During the presentation, special attention was given to the development prospects of the “Yangi Avlod” Special Industrial Zone. The zone covers 774 hectares and is actively being developed: 28 projects are underway on 268 hectares with a total investment of US$800 million.

An additional 30 projects, with investors already identified, will occupy 300 hectares, with investments totaling US$400 million. The importance of expanding the zone, adding new production facilities, creating jobs, and producing high value-added products was emphasized.

Among the major planned projects is the construction of a multimodal logistics terminal worth US$288 million in collaboration with Dubai-based DP World. Once operational, the terminal will significantly enhance the logistics capacity of Tashkent and Tashkent Region, accelerating import-export operations.

The meeting also discussed the development of the city’s road and transport infrastructure. Based on the experience of Shota Rustaveli Street reconstruction, the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system will be implemented on ten additional streets. Measures for traffic safety, regulation of transport flows, and improvement of the city’s architectural appearance through a unified design code were considered.

It was reported that in 2026, 1 trillion soums will be allocated from the local budget for neighborhood improvements, creation of gastronomic streets, and modernization of irrigation systems. President Mirziyoyev stressed that the transformation of Tashkent should create a comfortable and modern urban environment, stimulate economic activity, and promote entrepreneurship.

Additionally, major projects in other regions were presented, including plans to expand Bukhara’s capacity for hosting and serving tourists.
