Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to introduce a provision into the Constitution on a ban on refusing employment due to a relative’s criminal record.

During a meeting with members of the constitutional commission on the formation of proposals for amending the country’s Basic Law, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that people should not be held responsible for the crimes of their relatives.

President proposed in the Constitution that a person’s criminal record and the legal consequences arising from it cannot be grounds for restricting the rights of his relatives.

“Why should a father be held responsible for the actions of his children, or a brother for a brother? We will completely abandon such an unfair system,” the head of state said.

The principle of humane and dignified treatment of all persons deprived of their liberty should also be enshrined in the updated Constitution, the head of state noted.
