President Approves Measures to Support the Electrical Industry to Boost Exports and Raw Material Processing

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s electrical industry will introduce new measures aimed at stimulating deep raw material processing and increasing export potential. A Presidential Decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan, titled “On Additional Measures to Stimulate Deep Processing of Raw Materials in the Electrical Industry and to Enhance the Investment and Export Potential of the Sector,” seeks to strengthen the national industry’s position in global markets.

The document outlines key development targets for the industry. By 2026, Uzbekistan aims to expand its export geography to 80 countries and increase export volumes to US$3 billion. By 2030, the volume of copper sold through exchange trading is expected to reach 225,000 tons.

According to the decree, enterprises in the electrical industry will receive state support in 2026–2027 to replenish working capital, including the purchase of copper raw materials. Loan compensations from commercial banks will be provided through the Joint-Stock Company Entrepreneurship Development Company regardless of loan size, but not exceeding the equivalent of 20 billion soums.

For loans in national currency, the government will reimburse the portion of the interest rate exceeding the Central Bank’s base rate by more than four percentage points, but not exceeding ten percentage points. The overall rate may not exceed twice the base rate.

For loans in foreign currency, compensation will cover the portion of the interest rate exceeding 6 percent, but not by more than five percentage points—for the full loan term, regardless of the borrower’s credit stability rating.

In addition, enterprises will be eligible for state guarantees of up to 10 billion soums, but not exceeding 50 percent of the loan amount.
