Plans for practical measures to expand cooperation between Uzbekistan and IOM for 2021-2023 were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 December 2021, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fozilov held a meeting with the subregional coordinator of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for Central Asia, the newly appointed head of the IOM Representative Office in Tashkent, Zeynal Hajiyev.

As noted, interaction between Uzbekistan and IOM is consistently developing, a striking example of which is the opening in April 2021 of a full-fledged IOM office in our country.

The Deputy Foreign Minister provided detailed information on the measures taken by the leadership of our country to provide social, legal and material support to citizens of Uzbekistan working abroad, to improve their living conditions. It was emphasized that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to migration issues, both at the national and international levels.

An exchange of views took place on deepening interaction through the implementation of joint regional and national projects, including within the framework of the "Plan of practical measures to expand cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and IOM for 2021-2023."

Other issues of the common agenda were also discussed at the talks.
