Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- One person died in a fire at the unit No. 2 for the release of propane-butane mixture of the Shurtan Oil and Gas Production Department in Kashkadarya region. Two more workers received minor injuries.

The fire at the unit No. 2 for the extraction of propane-butane mixture occurred on 1 July, at about 12:50 pm.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations notes that 10 fire and rescue teams took part in extinguishing the fire. As a result of the incident, one person died. Two employees of the enterprise received minor injuries. They received medical attention and were sent home.

A working group, headed by the chairman of the board of Uzbekneftegaz, has been created to study the causes of the fire. The cause of the fire and material damage are being investigated.

The design capacity of the propane-butane mixture extraction unit is designed to process 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year and release 50 thousand tons of propane-butane mixture.
