Nurmat Otabekov: If the situation does not change for the better, we will consider the possibility of extending the school vacation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- School holidays in Uzbekistan may be extended if the situation with coronavirus worsens in the country. This was reported by Kun.uz with reference to the words of Nurmat Otabekov, a member of the headquarters for the fight against coronavirus.

Otabekov noted that today in Uzbekistan, the proportion of children among those infected with COVID-19 has increased. Last year, during the pandemic, children with coronavirus were 5-7%, today the figure has risen to 25%.

He recalled that because of this, schools in some districts of Tashkent have been transferred to distance learning.

“Now the holidays are underway, and by the end of them we plan to break the chain of the spread of the coronavirus. If the situation does not change for the better, we will consider the possibility of extending the vacation,” Nurmat Otabekov said.

Let us remind you that spring break for schoolchildren will last till 28 March.

According to him, so far there are no grounds for tightening quarantine restrictions in Uzbekistan. At the same time, he recalled the need to comply with safety precautions.
