Nishon and Mirishkor districts to be transformed into innovative cotton farming centers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  The Chinese company Xinjiang Liuhua has successfully cultivated cotton on 1,520 hectares of irrigated land in the Koson district of Kashkadarya Region, one of Uzbekistan’s key cotton-producing areas. The use of foreign cotton varieties and drip irrigation technology has significantly boosted land productivity, reports Light Central Asia.

The company plans to expand its activities with additional projects in Kokdala, Nishon, and Mirishkor districts. The investor aims to annually increase cotton yields, targeting 80 centners per hectare in 2025, 85 centners in 2026, and 90 centners in 2027.

Earlier this year, the khokim of Tashkent Region, Zoyir Mirzaev, met with representatives of Xinjiang Lihua Group Co., Ltd. to discuss proposals for cultivating high-quality cotton varieties on 30,000 hectares of land and establishing a cotton research and technology center in Tashkent Region. The Chinese partners planned to invest $300 million in this project.

The projects being implemented in Uzbekistan’s cotton sector with China’s participation are vital for introducing innovative agricultural solutions, increasing yields, and creating new jobs.
