Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 December, the General Prosecutor’s Office hosted a meeting of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldoshev with the UN Human Rights Council Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights in the fight against terrorism Fionnuala Ni Aolain.

During the meeting, Prosecutor General Yuldoshev informed Fionnuala Ni Aolain in detail about the functions and tasks of the prosecutor’s office, about the work done in the field of protecting human rights and freedoms, as well as about the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in the judicial and legal sphere.

The Special Rapporteur positively assessed the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan in the judicial and legal sphere and in ensuring the protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens. A high assessment was given to the systemic and consistent measures implemented by the leadership of Uzbekistan in these areas.

The meeting was held in a spirit of constructive dialogue and mutual understanding.
