Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 November, a ceremony was held to present the jubilee medal "30th anniversary of the Council for Cooperation and Confidence Building Measures in Asia" to the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan (NCHR).

This commemorative medal is intended to be awarded to representatives of member states who have contributed to multilateral cooperation in the activities of the Council for Cooperation and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) as part of the celebration of its anniversary date.

CICA is an international forum for strengthening cooperation, whose activities are aimed at ensuring peace, security and stability in Asia. Its activities are based on the understanding of the direct link between peace, security and stability in Asia and the global world.

The award ceremony was attended by the Secretary General of the Council for Cooperation and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, Ambassador Kairat Saribay, the representative of the CICA Executive Committee Adel Mohammad, representatives of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other partner organizations.

Speaking at the opening of the event, CICA Secretary General Ambassador Kairat Saribay expressed his sincere gratitude to the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan for practical cooperation in the protection of human rights within the framework of the "Concept for the implementation of confidence building measures of the Council for Cooperation and Confidence Building Measures in Asia in the field of humane criteria".

Presenting the commemorative medal, Kairat Sarybai noted:

“We highly appreciate the important role of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights in promoting the humane criteria of the Council for Cooperation and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.

With the support of the NCHR, we developed the Action Plan (2021-2023) for the implementation of confidence-building measures according to the humanitarian criteria of the CICA, which was adopted by the decision of the organization in October 2022, and the document “Implementation of confidence-building measures of the Council for Cooperation and Confidence Building Measures in Asia in areas of humanitarian criteria”. Thank you for your cooperation in preparing the concept. It is a great honor for us to award the National Center for Human Rights with the CICA anniversary medal.”

As the director of the NCHR Akmal Saidov noted during the ceremony, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the CICA summit held in Dushanbe in 2019, expressed specific initiatives aimed at deepening regional cooperation and stated that Uzbekistan will be considered the CICA coordinator on humanitarian criteria from 2020 .

The implementation of general coordination in the field of humanitarian criteria was entrusted to the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights.

Within the framework of cooperation with the participation of the NCHR, an Action Plan (2021-2023) and a "Concept for the implementation of confidence building measures of the Council for Cooperation and Confidence Building Measures in Asia in the field of humanitarian criteria" were developed.

The participation of our country in the activities of the CICA and the implementation of the initiatives announced by Uzbekistan serve to strengthen political mutual trust, develop regional cooperation in ensuring security, develop trade, economic, transport, logistics and tourism potential.
