Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov commented on a video in which schoolchildren in Kashkadarya region studied on the floor without desks. The video of this incident was published on social networks.

According to the minister, in 2020 he personally visited this school and after that the school was included in the major overhaul program. 3 billion soums were allocated for the repair of the school.

Shermatov stressed that by the beginning of the 2021-2022 academic year, this school did not have time to complete the repair work. In this regard, it was planned that the children would temporarily study at another school or remotely. That is why the necessary furniture has not yet been installed at the school.

The minister noted that according to preliminary data, photos and videos of students sitting on the floor were circulated due to disagreements between some of the school's teachers and the principal. 

Sherzod Shermatov expressed hope that the prosecutor's office will fully study the situation and take appropriate measures.
