Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with Improving the Procedure for Military Service by Citizens of the Republics of Uzbekistan" was adopted.
According to the amendments introduced by the Law to the Law "On General Military Duty and Military Service", the following are introduced in the Armed Forces instead of the military rank of sergeant:
Sergeant III degree;
sergeant II degree;
sergeant I degree.
In accordance with the amendments, it was established that the deprivation of the military rank of sergeant is possible by a court decision or by the decision of the heads of ministries and departments for committing acts by a serviceman for which other disciplinary measures are insufficient.
In addition, it was determined that the rules for wearing military uniforms are established by the heads of the ministry, state committees and departments in which military service is provided. (Previously, this was the responsibility of the Ministry of Defense).
The law also defines specific criteria for admission to military service and dismissal of a serviceman from military service.
The law comes into force on the day of its official publication.
