Kazakh interior minister appointed as regional anti-drug centre’s chief

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Kazakh Interior Minister Baurzhan Mukhamedzhanov has been appointed chairman of the council of national coordinators of the member states of the Central Asian regional information coordination centre on the fight against the illicit circulation of narcotic and psychotropic substances and their precursors.

The decision had been taken unanimously by the members of the national coordinators’ council of the centre’s member states at their first session in Almaty, Interfax-Kazakhstan reported.

Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are the member states of the centre that began its pilot activities on 1 November 2007.
