Joint military exercises “Birlik–2025” with the participation of Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan begin in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 14 October, a formal opening ceremony was held at the “Kattakurgan” training ground in Uzbekistan’s Central Military District for one of the country’s largest military exercises — the Regional Joint Exercise “Birlik–2025.”

The maneuvers involve units from the defense ministries of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan.

The main goal of the exercise is to strengthen mutual trust among participating nations, develop partnerships, and enhance the level of interoperability between their armed forces amid growing geopolitical tensions and emerging security threats.

During the drills, participants are practicing joint combat training missions using modern warfare methods and advanced technologies — ranging from artillery and armored vehicles to unmanned aerial systems. Special emphasis is placed on precision targeting at long ranges and coordination among units from different countries.

In addition to practical exercises, the program includes combat training competitions and experience-sharing sessions among military specialists.

At the conclusion of the drills, participants will visit Samarkand, where the first meeting of defense ministers from Central Asian states and Azerbaijan will take place, underscoring the importance of “Birlik–2025” as a platform for strengthening regional security dialogue.
