Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 June 2021, within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals week, a round table on the topic “Strengthening the means of implementation and revitalizing work within the framework of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development” was held.

The event was attended by members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, deputies of the Legislative Chamber, heads of a number of ministries and departments, representatives of international organizations, experts and journalists.

The roundtable participants discussed the prospects for attracting foreign investment to implement programs for the country’s socio-economic development, regulating public debt as a factor in ensuring the sustainability of the financial and economic situation, as well as integrating the principles of sustainable development into developed and implemented strategies and programs.

In addition, special attention was paid to the issues of strengthening the national system for combating money laundering and terrorist financing as a tool to reduce illicit financial flows.

The participants emphasized that Uzbekistan has managed to achieve significant results in the implementation of the UN SDGs. At the same time, it was noted that the successful implementation of the sustainable development agenda is impossible without the establishment of inclusive partnerships at the global, regional and local levels, built on common goals focused on meeting the interests of people.

The emphasis was placed on the issues of strengthening cooperation between government bodies, civil society, the business community and international organizations in the implementation of the UN SDGs.

As a result of the event, a number of proposals and recommendations were developed, which will be appropriately studied and proposed for implementation by parliamentarians.
