Issues of international cooperation in the field of labor relations and trade unions were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 September, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Chairwoman of the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Forced Labor Tanzila Narbayeva met with representatives of the International Labor Organization, the International Trade Union Confederation, leaders of trade unions from Central Asia and Mongolia, who came to our country to participate in the regular meeting of the Council of Trade Unions of Central Asian countries.

During the meeting, Narbayeva noted that in recent years, thanks to the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, significant changes have taken place in the system of labor relations in our country, large-scale work has been carried out in this area to introduce organizational, legal, legislative and international standards.

During the dialogue, the internationally recognized experience of Uzbekistan in combating child labor and forced labor, and the practical application of the principles of decent work were especially emphasized.

It was also noted that there is effective cooperation with civil society institutions, international organizations and foreign states on the issues of combating child labor and forced labor.

It was noted that cooperation with the International Labor Organization occupies a special place in this direction; in recent years, effective work has been carried out to combat human trafficking and forced labor, and improve decent working conditions.

The parties also discussed the development of regional and international cooperation in improving labor relations, strengthening the activities of trade unions in this process.

In particular, the activities of the Council of Trade Unions of Central Asian countries, established in 2021 on the initiative of Uzbekistan, were highlighted.

It was emphasized that the Council over the past period of its activity has carried out a number of activities, made a significant contribution to the development of regional cooperation in terms of improving labor relations.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on the activation of joint projects in the field of labor relations.
