Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan organized a meeting in the format of a videoconference with the adviser to the President of Rissho University, Professor Haruki Yasuda.
Rishsho University is one of the oldest universities in Japan, established in 1872. It has 8 departments, 19 research institutes and centers for the study of Buddhism, philosophy, philology, economics, law, etc. 12 thousand students study in the university. In cooperation with the University, joint archaeological excavations are being carried out in the south of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of enhancing cooperation in the study of ancient Buddhist temples in Surkhandarya region, as well as organizing an international conference on the history of the development of Buddhism in the region.
An agreement was reached that as the situation with coronavirus in Japan improves, leading researchers from a Japanese university will visit Uzbekistan.
The study of practical issues of cooperation with the Rishshö University in the study of the history of Buddhism in southern Uzbekistan continues.
