Intrepid Travel Expands Presence in Central Asia with New Office in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Intrepid Travel has announced the expansion of its destination management network with the opening of a new office in Uzbekistan later this year.
The new Destination Management Company (DMC) will strengthen Intrepid’s position in Central Asia amid growing global interest in the region. In 2025, the company recorded a 70% year-on-year increase in bookings to Central Asia, driven by rising demand for lesser-known destinations and off-the-beaten-path travel experiences.
This move aligns with Intrepid’s strategy through 2030 to develop a network of locally managed DMCs and deliver high-quality travel experiences closely connected with local communities.
The Tashkent-based office will be led by a country general manager, supported by a small operations team and local guides. This will become Intrepid’s 32nd office worldwide and represents a significant investment in long-term partnerships with local suppliers and communities.
Natalie Kidd, Intrepid’s Managing Director for Asia and Head of Global Operations, said: “This is a natural next step in our regional growth strategy and in supporting that growth with strong local teams. Central Asia is a very promising destination for Intrepid, and having our own office in Uzbekistan will allow us to better support our guides, partners, and travelers on the ground.”
Ashish Verma, Intrepid’s Regional General Manager for North and South Asia, added: “Interest in Uzbekistan is rapidly growing due to its rich culture, hospitality, and unique landscapes. We have long-standing relationships with local partners and are excited to strengthen this foundation with a new team in the country.”
Last month, Intrepid also launched two new tours in the region. The 10-day “Kyrgyzstan: Trekking in the Tien Shan” tour includes hikes in the western mountain range with overnight stays in traditional yurts, offering views of alpine lakes and snow-capped peaks.
The 16-day “Central Asia Highlights” tour travels by train through Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkiye. The itinerary features yurt stays by Lake Issyk-Kul, dinner with an Uzbek family, and wine tasting at a family vineyard in Almaty.
