Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 August 2022, the Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on Innovative Development, Information Policy and Information Technologies, together with the Ministry of Innovative Development, held a practical seminar on the topic "Independent Uzbekistan - on the path of innovative development".

Deputies of the lower house of parliament, senior officials of the ministry, scientists, inventors and young people engaged in scientific research took part in the seminar, timed to coincide with the 31st anniversary of the independence of our country under the slogan “The people are dear to the new Uzbekistan, the people are dear.”

It was noted that in order to accelerate the development of all sectors of the economy and the social sphere on the basis of innovative ideas and new technologies, the Ministry of Innovative Development was established in 2017. For five years, the ministry has been working in close cooperation with government bodies, research and information and analytical institutions on the implementation of innovative ideas, developments and technologies.

Significant results have been achieved in a short time. In particular, in 2018-2022, the Ministry of Innovative Development attracted US$58.5 million in investments to implement 44 investment projects (including US$33.1 million in foreign investment). In addition, 372 scientific developments were commercialized. produced goods worth 235.3 billion soums, rendered services worth 228.8 billion soums. 105 start-up companies have been created for about 80 billion soums.

Also, in accordance with the successful implementation of the "Strategy for Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019-2021", our republic in the ranking of the Global Innovation Index, which is assessed by 81 indicators, has risen by 36 positions compared to 2015 and in the ranking announced in September 2021, Uzbekistan ranked 86 out of 132 countries.

Such results, of course, are related to the created conditions and relevant factors. That is, today the volume of annual funds allocated from the state budget to the fields of innovation and science has increased 3 times compared to 2018, reaching 1.5 trillion soums. As a result, the number of young scientists in the country today is 10,800 people.

The seminar presented 19 new innovative infrastructures, such as a business incubator, a technology park, a business accelerator, a coworking center, and 8 information systems for the digitalization of innovative development were introduced.

Currently, 784 local projects worth about 1.2 trillion soums have been selected, another 98 international joint projects of equal partnership worth 98.3 billion soums, the implementation of which is ensured on the basis of a state program.

The “Strategy for Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026”, adopted in this direction, as an important document covering all reforms, creates an opportunity for targeted implementation of the tasks set.

The deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis who spoke at the event highly appreciated the legislative initiatives in the field and the ongoing reforms to further improve the legal framework. It was noted that over the past five years, 80 legal documents have been developed on science and innovation activities, and legislative practice has been improved.

In particular, the Parliament adopted 2 Laws “On Innovation Activity” and “On Science and Scientific Activities”. At the same time, 6 decrees and 28 resolutions of the President, 37 resolutions and 7 orders of the government are reflected in our life. This created an atmosphere of competition, interest and responsibility in the industry.

In the practical part of the seminar, the deputies visited the Park of Innovative Technologies and got acquainted with new developments, inventions and promising socio-economic projects. Direct dialogues were held with project owners and executors.
