In June, 130% of the average monthly rainfall was observed in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Center for Hydrometeorological Service shared forecast data for expected weather in June in the last days of May. According to experts, in June, the monthly amount of precipitation in a significant part of the territory of the republic is less than the climatic norm, only in the central and eastern parts of the country is predicted to be near the climatic norm.

The report notes that heavy precipitation can be observed due to local characteristic clouds, the intensity of which is somewhat higher in June, and the normal amount of precipitation this month will slightly change the indicators.

At the moment, the advisory long-term weather forecasts of Uzhydromet are justifying themselves. According to the observation stations of the hydrometeorological center, from the beginning of the current month to 21 June, precipitation in Samarkand and Tashkent regions was more than normal. Since the beginning of the month, 130% of the average monthly rainfall has been observed in Tashkent. In most of the territory of Uzbekistan, the total amount of precipitation was less than the average monthly climatic indicators.

On 20-22 June, the center of the hydrometeorological service distributed an emergency message that short-term rains, thunderstorms are possible across the territory of the republic, and hail is possible in some areas. The message added that heavy rains would fall in the foothill and mountainous regions of Tashkent, Samarkand, Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya regions and regions of the Ferghana Valley.

On 19-20 June, the intrusion of western humid air masses from the territories of the Black Sea and the Caucasus was noted across the territory of the republic. This process has led to strong winds and heavy precipitation in some areas. Heavy precipitation was observed in the southern and northeastern regions of the republic. In particular, on June 20 in the afternoon in the city of Tashkent, strong, intense rainfall occurred from time to time. The total amount of precipitation in the capital was unevenly distributed (map).

Of course, yesterday’s downpour, or rather two heavy downpours that took place in the afternoon and late afternoon, made the biggest contribution to this amount. The total amount of precipitation, according to the Tashkent-Observatory meteorological station, located in the area of Yunusabad khokimiyat, was 15 mm (an indicator equal to the average monthly precipitation), that is, almost the monthly norm of June, and 21 mm in the area of the International Airport. Precipitation mostly fell in the form of rain.

Precipitation of 15 mm or more for 12 hours a day is considered dangerous meteorological phenomena. Especially in the summer months, such precipitation, as a rule, due to the intensity, based on the wrong approach in road and building structures, restored objects (battens, waterproofing structures, drainage, severe cracks in the roof, resistant to atmospheric precipitation), mudflows may occur. lead events.

In summer, more than 15 mm of precipitation falls in the capital in 12 hours, this is a very rare occurrence. Over the past decade in the city of Tashkent, in the first month of summer in June, only in one case more than 15 mm of precipitation was observed per day. At the beginning of June 2019 (3 and 6 June), a total of 56 mm of precipitation fell in Tashkent over two days. Precipitation was in the form of hail and heavy rain.
