Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 December 2021, a meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan in foreign countries was held in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

During the conversation, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva dwelled on the current activities of the upper chamber, including the work of committees and commissions, ongoing parliamentary control, hearing reports from the heads of diplomatic missions abroad on the implementation of the provisions of the road maps for mutual cooperation with host countries.

It was also emphasized that the interaction of the parliament with foreign countries has reached a qualitatively new level. The efficiency of the work of the Senate with the parliaments of foreign countries has increased, the geography of cooperation has expanded. In a short time, the upper chamber has established strong ties with many reputable international organizations in the implementation of major projects and initiatives.

In particular, in order to ensure gender equality, the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia is successfully working. The Regional Platform promotes capacity building and cooperation among women on important political and economic issues.

The meeting noted the possibilities of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting and realizing the national interests of our country in the international arena. In particular, on making investments, allocating grants and implementing joint projects with international organizations.

It was noted that the creation of groups of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation is expanding, the activities of which need to be developed.

In ensuring the effectiveness of the work of the inter-parliamentary groups of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis on cooperation with foreign countries, the role of ambassadors is significant, whose activities also include such areas as strengthening trade, economic, cultural, scientific cooperation, attracting foreign investment, advanced technologies, and expanding domestic exports.

The diplomats shared their vision of using the opportunities and potential of the national parliament in the development of cooperation with foreign countries, strengthening relations during inter-parliamentary meetings not only in lawmaking, but also in trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

At the meeting, held in a constructive spirit, the senators and ambassadors also considered other issues of cooperation in the international arena, which will contribute to socio-economic development, strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations.
