Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 10 March, the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan organized a videoconference meeting with Vice President of Soka University Koichi Kandachi and Head of the International Department Shinsaku Takahashi.
Soka University was founded in 1971. famous Japanese philosopher, writer and president of the Buddhist organization "Soka Gakkai International" Daisaku Ikeda. About 8000 students study at 8 faculties of the university, including 700 foreign students from 52 countries of the world.
Since 1989 Soka University, together with the Institute of Art Criticism of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, conducted archaeological research of Buddhist culture in Dalverzintepa, Surkhandarya region under the guidance of Professor Kyudzo Kato.
During the meeting, issues of developing cooperation with the implementation of new research projects in the field of archeology in Uzbekistan were discussed. The Uzbek side especially noted that Soka University stood at the origins of the development of scientific cooperation and carried out the first Uzbek-Japanese archaeological excavations in the monuments of Buddhism in southern Uzbekistan.
The Japanese side expressed its readiness to further develop cooperation with Uzbekistan in the field of scientific research and education and, as the epidemiological situation stabilizes, to conduct joint activities in priority areas.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue the study of practical issues of scientific and educational cooperation between Soka University and Uzbekistan and to hold joint events.
