Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Some media outlets and social media pages publish reports of an increase in gasoline prices from 1 June 2022 due to an increase in excise tax rates on petroleum products.
It should be noted that in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On amendments and additions to the Tax Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, from 1 June, changes are made to the following excise tax rates for petroleum products and goods sold to the final consumer:
a) excise tax rates for petroleum products:
- 1 ton of gasoline brand Ai - 80: in fact - 240,000 soums, from 1 June - - 275,000 soums (change by 35,000 soums or 15%);
- Motor gasoline brand 1 ton AI-90 and above: in fact - 275,000 soums, from 1 June - 275,000 soums (unchanged);
- 1 ton of diesel fuel: in fact - 240,000 soums, from 1 June - 264,000 soums (change of 24,000 soums or 10%);
- 1 ton of ECO diesel fuel: in fact - 216,000 soums, from 1 June - 237,600 soums (change of 21,600 soums or 10%).
b) excise tax rates for goods sold to the final consumer:
- gasoline: in fact - 465,530 soums / ton or 350 soums / liter, from 1 June - 512,000 soums or 385 soums / liter (change 46,470 soums or 35 soums / liter or 10%);
- diesel fuel: in fact - 425,918 soums / tons or 350 soums / liter, from 1 June - 468,000 soums / tons or 385 soums / liter (change 42,082 soums or 35 soums / liter or 10%).
When considering the above changes on the example of AI-80 gasoline, existing taxes and other mandatory payments, which are included in the average price of AI-80 at gas stations, can affect the retail price by up to 71 soums on average (including VAT).
At the same time, retail prices for AI-80 gasoline, which currently makes up 6,800 soums per 1 liter, will not increase due to changes introduced from 1 June on excise tax at UNG Petro gas stations, which are administered by Uzbekneftegaz.
