Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 June 2021, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mirwais Nab. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
The sides exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan. The diplomats considered issues of promoting the peace process in this country, voiced the expediency of continuing efforts to support peace and stability both on a bilateral basis and within international organizations, in particular the UN and the SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group and other multilateral formats.
The Afghan side highly appreciated the efforts of the leadership of Uzbekistan for the peaceful settlement of the Afghan crisis, the implementation of various infrastructure projects in the energy and transport-communication fields on the territory of the country.
Special attention was paid to the organizational issues of the participation of the Afghan side at the highest level in the International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Interconnectedness. Challenges and Opportunities ", which will be held on 15-16 July 2021 in Tashkent.
During the talks, an exchange of views took place on other issues of the bilateral agenda of mutual interest.
