Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Slovenia hold talks in Lodz

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 December 2022, on the sidelines of the 29th OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Lodz, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Slovenia Tanja Anna Fajon.

A thorough exchange of views took place on the development of interstate cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, as well as interaction within the framework of international organizations.

The schedule and organizational aspects of upcoming contacts, including the planned visit of the Slovenian Foreign Minister to Uzbekistan in 2023, were considered.

The Ministers noted the need to continue the practice of inter-MFA political consultations, which allow discussing a wide range of issues.

As stated, the trade, economic and investment spheres are a priority area of bilateral cooperation. The parties expressed their interest in expanding investment ties in the areas of electronics, pharmaceutical and chemical, and metallurgical industries.

The talks also discussed topical regional issues, in particular the current situation in Afghanistan.

The Slovenian side was informed about the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to form a high-level international negotiating group to prepare and agree with the Afghan authorities an algorithm for the phased fulfillment of the obligations of the parties.
