Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 3 November 2021, the first Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Sodyk Safoyev, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to our country Yoshinori Fujiyama.

In recent years, Uzbekistan and Japan have achieved significant results in the development of bilateral and multifaceted mutually beneficial cooperation. The visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the land of the rising sun in 2019 brought bilateral ties to a new stage of development.

It was noted at the meeting that, along with the established strategic partnership relations between our countries in the fields of trade and economy, politics, education, culture, humanitarian exchanges, as well as inter-parliamentary relations, cooperation in the fields of science, education and innovation is dynamically developing.

In particular, the scientific and educational process of the UWED is also aimed at actively participating in the rapprochement of the two countries, where student exchange programs with prestigious universities in Japan are successfully implemented. Cooperation has been established with 5 universities in Japan - Nagoya, Tsukuba, Hokkaido, Waseda, Wakayama. In addition, the Analytical Center for Japan Research at UWED is actively involved.

The parties expressed their readiness to interact on joint preparation for holding the Year of Uzbekistan in Japan and the Year of Japan in Uzbekistan in 2022 as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries.

Within the framework of the meeting, a congratulatory message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Toshimitsu Motegi, was presented to the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodyk Safoev in connection with his awarding for many years of services in deepening bilateral ties and promoting friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Japan with the highest award of the Emperor of Japan "Grand Cordon of the Order Rising Sun ".
