Ferghana and SeoulTech Strengthen Partnership in IT, Artificial Intelligence, and Applied Sciences

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ferghana region hokim Khayrullo Bozorov held a meeting with Kim Dong-hwan, Rector of the Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech).

It was noted that cooperation between Ferghana region and major cities of the Republic of Korea is steadily expanding across multiple sectors and reaching a new qualitative level. The sides expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in the field of education.

Khayrullo Bozorov emphasized that partnerships with leading Korean universities play an important role in training qualified professionals. He highlighted that in an era of rapid technological advancement, the demand for next-generation specialists is growing, and the introduction of modern educational programs is already producing tangible results.

Rector Kim Dong-hwan noted that SeoulTech, with a history of over 115 years, is one of Korea’s leading universities in preparing high-level specialists. The university currently has around 14,000 students, including nearly 2,000 international students. Interest in students from Uzbekistan, he added, continues to grow — many have successfully completed their studies and are now employed at prestigious Korean companies. Several Uzbek students currently studying at SeoulTech also attended the meeting.

The hokim of Ferghana region stressed that establishing cooperation with SeoulTech in areas such as artificial intelligence, IT, and applied sciences will be mutually beneficial and strategically important for both sides.

During the talks, the parties agreed to send Ferghana students to study at SeoulTech, expand academic exchange programs, and further strengthen cooperation through joint educational initiatives.

As a result of the meeting, the Ferghana regional hokimiyat and Seoul National University of Science and Technology signed a Friendship and Cooperation Agreement, along with a Memorandum of Partnership between the Ferghana State Technical University and SeoulTech for the implementation of joint educational projects.

The meeting was also attended by Alisher Abdusalomov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Korea, and Uktam Salomov, Rector of Ferghana State Technical University.
