Electricity Generation in Uzbekistan Rises 4% in 2025 to 86.7 Billion kWh

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In January–December 2025, electricity generation in Uzbekistan reached 86.7 billion kWh, 4.0% higher than the 81.55 billion kWh produced in the same period in 2024, according to the National Statistics Committee.

The generation structure showed significant changes. Large enterprises reduced electricity output to 62.94 billion kWh, down from 71.02 billion kWh in 2024, while the small business sector more than doubled its production, reaching 21.85 billion kWh compared with 10.53 billion kWh a year earlier.

A decline was also observed in heat supply. In 2025, large enterprises produced 20,405.7 thousand Gcal of thermal energy, or 88.6% of the 22,687.0 thousand Gcal generated in 2024.

Additionally, production of gas formed during underground coal gasification fell sharply. According to large enterprises, this output amounted to 45.2 million cubic meters in January–December 2025, more than two and a half times lower than the 117.1 million cubic meters recorded in 2024.
