Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Electric buses will be purchased for the city of Tashkent. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan.
The electric buses will be purchased with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) “Accelerating Attracting Investments into the Air in Less Produced Vehicles with Pollutants”.
This project is aimed at improving the quality of the environment by introducing the accelerated use of electric transport in urban public transport on the example of the city of Tashkent, and then this experience can be implemented in other cities of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The project envisages the purchase of electric buses for public transport in Tashkent, as well as the introduction of a "green transport corridor" in the city as a pilot project.
The project, designed for six years, was approved by donors (UN Development Program and the Global Environment Facility) and stipulates the allocation of funds in the amount of US$3.9 million.
