Egypt and Qatar become partners in the SCO dialogue

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 September 2022, in Tashkent, as part of preparations for the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a ceremony was held to sign Memorandums on granting the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Qatar the status of a Dialogue Partner of the SCO.

The documents were signed by SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming, First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Hamdi Sanad Loza and State Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Sultan bin Saad al-Mureikhi.

From the Uzbek side, the event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov.

The memorandums envisage cooperation between the SCO and the above countries in the areas of regional security and stability, trade and investment, energy, ICT, agriculture, transport and communications, culture, science and technology, education, healthcare, tourism, etc.

The status of a partner state gives the right to take part in events held within the framework of the SCO, at the invitation of the member states of the Organization.

Memorandums come into force from the date of their signing.

The work on signing the memorandums was organized by the Uzbek side within the framework of its chairmanship in the SCO and in order to implement the relevant decisions of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization.
