Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement authorities in Namangan have detained around a hundred black Chevrolet Lacetti (Gentra) vehicles as part of an investigation into a fatal road accident.

According to the Namangan Regional Traffic Police Department, on 11 February at approximately 6:40 AM, an unidentified driver in a black Gentra struck a 67-year-old man crossing Amir Temur Street. Surveillance cameras captured the vehicle stopping briefly after the collision before fleeing the scene. The victim succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 117 (leaving a person in danger resulting in death) and Part 2 of Article 266 (traffic violation causing death) of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code.

To identify the driver, law enforcement officers stopped and inspected black Gentra vehicles, including those arriving from other regions. After verification, owners were allowed to reclaim their cars.

The regional police department later confirmed that the suspect has been identified and arrested. The driver was found to be a 28-year-old resident of Namangan.
