Customs duties on a number of food products may be reduced to zero

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Zeroing is envisaged by the resolution on the state budget of Uzbekistan for 2022.

According to Jamshid Kuchkarov, in order to prevent a sharp rise in food prices, the possibility of zeroing customs duties on some food products is being considered. “We will make an appropriate decision on this issue,” he said.

At the same time, on 30 December 2021, according to the decree of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the customs duty rates for the import of five types of goods — meat, butter, flour, soap and others — were set to zero. Previously, rates on these goods ranged from 5% to 20%.

Kuchkarov stressed that other measures are being taken to support the population. Thus, commercial banks and the Central Bank carry out money transfers in rubles to the population continuously, and it is instructed to continue these transfers.
