“Clean Hands” program implementation measures approved
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a comprehensive set of measures for the implementation of the “Clean Hands” program, which aims to improve drinking water supply, sanitation, and hygiene infrastructure in healthcare and educational institutions.
Under this initiative, institutions will be provided with adequate supplies of hygiene and sanitation products. It also includes the modernization of water supply systems and sanitary infrastructure, such as installing indoor restroom facilities within buildings.
In addition, large-scale awareness campaigns will be conducted to promote sustainable personal hygiene practices, especially among children.
Using the geoportal for managing public investments, a targeted program will be developed to modernize sanitary and hygiene conditions in general education schools. A new assessment system will also be introduced, based on the international “three-star approach” methodology, to evaluate water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) conditions in these institutions.
According to a Presidential decree, the “Clean Hands” program starts in all healthcare and educational organizations across the country starting from 1 May 2025.
