Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan), on 12 May, an accident involving a passenger bus occurred in Zhambyl region, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry reports.
According to the press service of the Department of Emergency Situations of Zhambyl region, the accident occurred on the 571th kilometer of the Almaty-Tashkent highway, six kilometers from the village of Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, Zhualyn district, Zhambyl region.
“A passenger bus registered in the Republic of Uzbekistan overturned. The reasons for the incident are being investigated by the competent authorities,” the press service of the department explained.
There were 53 passengers on the bus, including 47 citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan. As a result of the accident, 2 citizens of Uzbekistan died.
Currently, 16 of our compatriots are in the district hospital, including 2 in the intensive care unit.
Under the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Almaty, a working group has been created to organize assistance to the victims. Diplomats went to the scene of the incident. Liaison with law enforcement agencies and medical institutions is maintained. Organizational issues of transporting the bodies of the dead to their homeland are being resolved.
The situation is under the control of the Consulate General.
