Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- China’s leading media outlets - Xinhua News Agency, People’s Daily newspapers, China magazine, Diplomat Magazine, www.takungpao.com, Pseacher and others published articles on the participation of the President of Uzbekistan in the online summit of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Dunyo news agency reported.
The publications note that the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during an online meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, put forward a number of important proposals for the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the EAEU space.
The articles separately emphasize that “the head of Uzbekistan pointed out the need to further develop alternative transport corridors and strengthen transport connectivity in the southern and eastern directions. The importance of the early start of the practical implementation of the project for the construction of the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway, which will become a bridge between East and West, was noted.
Chinese media also highlighted the call of the President of Uzbekistan for active participation in the construction of a trans-Afghan railway from Uzbek Termez to Pakistani Peshawar, which will provide the shortest route to South Asia with a market of 2 billion consumers.
“The President of Uzbekistan also called for the intensification of cooperation in the fields of high technologies and tourism,” the authors write.
Uzbekistan became an observer in the Eurasian Economic Union in December 2020. The trade turnover of the republic with the EAEU countries in 2021 increased by 30 percent, and since the beginning of this year it has grown by another 33 percent. The annual growth rate of attracted investments from the EAEU countries is about 25 percent, the Chinese media summarize.
