Chinese Investment in Uzbekistan’s Economy Could Rise to US$21 Billion in 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Tashkent, on the sidelines of the Uzbek–Chinese Business Forum, a meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Ilzat Kasimov and Deputy Governor of China’s Shaanxi Province Li Jun.
The talks focused on the further development of the Uzbek–Chinese strategic partnership, strengthening interregional cooperation, and preparations for the Third Uzbek–Chinese Interregional Forum.
The sides noted that the visit by the Shaanxi provincial delegation is of particular importance ahead of the upcoming forum, as it makes it possible to coordinate both organizational and substantive aspects of the agenda in advance.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached on a visit by an Uzbek delegation to the city of Xi’an to carry out detailed preparations for the event and to coordinate cooperation at the interregional level.
The forum is scheduled for May 2026 and will be held in Xi’an. It is expected to bring together around 2,000 representatives of relevant ministries, agencies, and business communities from Uzbekistan and China, underscoring the scale and practical orientation of the forthcoming dialogue.
Special attention during the negotiations was given to expanding industrial cooperation and launching joint projects in the chemical, textile, and oil and gas sectors. The parties emphasized the need to establish a sustainable platform for direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries, facilitating the implementation of concrete investment initiatives.
As a result of the meeting, both sides confirmed their mutual readiness for regular coordination and consistent preparation of the Uzbek–Chinese Interregional Forum, which is seen as an important instrument for deepening practical cooperation and strengthening partnership ties between the regions of the two countries.
