Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 November 2020, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met with Regional Director of the UNICEF Children’s Fund for Europe and Central Asia Afshan Khan.

During the conversation, the prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNICEF were discussed, in particular, the implementation of large-scale programs for the social protection of children, protecting their health and obtaining quality education.

The Chairperson of the Senate emphasized that this meeting is a logical continuation of constructive cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNICEF, recognized the important position of the Fund in the UN system in the implementation of large-scale programs for the social protection of children, their health protection and quality education in Uzbekistan.

In turn, Afshan Khan noted that the II World Conference held in Tashkent on the upbringing and education of young children was fruitful, while significant progress is being made in Uzbekistan in this area thanks to the attention paid at the level of the head of state.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on intensifying cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNICEF in the implementation of mutually beneficial joint projects and programs.
