Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 February 2021, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva met with the adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on economic development, effective public administration and international cooperation Suma Chakrabarti.

An exchange of views took place on the progress of the implementation of reforms carried out within the framework of the Action Strategy in five priority areas of development of Uzbekistan, on the strategic directions of modernization and increasing the competitiveness of key sectors of the country's economy, strengthening the public administration system.

They spoke about the implementation of the initiatives of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the ongoing work to ensure sustainable socio-economic development of the country and the consistent improvement of the well-being of the people.

In addition, issues of enhancing the role of women, ensuring gender equality, the work carried out within the framework of the Action Strategy in five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, improving the investment climate and business environment, improving the country's image, interaction at the local level were discussed. and internationally.

Suma Chakrabarti highly appreciated the results of reforms under the leadership of President Sh. Mirziyoyev, including in the field of gender equality, support for women's entrepreneurship, strengthening the role of women in state and public affairs, state support for socially vulnerable groups of the population (women, children, the elderly, the disabled) , on the eradication of forced and child labor and combating human trafficking, ensuring openness and transparency, and the development of tourism. According to the adviser to the President of Uzbekistan, starting in 2016, the construction of a new Uzbekistan began, many states see today a strategic partner in our country. He noted the significant role of the parliament in the ongoing reforms.

The participants in the meeting expressed their readiness to implement the tasks set to strengthen the role of women in state and public administration, international cooperation, agreed to establish close ties with the committees of the upper house, work together in many areas.
