Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 March, Acting Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov held talks with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Tashkent.
Welcoming Blinken, Bakhtiyor Saidov noted the successful and productive ministerial meeting in the C5 + 1 format, which took place the day before in Astana.
“I have carefully listened to your remarks and assessments of the situation in Central Asia and in the whole world. I want to emphasize that we have common priorities for a prosperous, stable and peaceful Central Asia,” said Saidov.
Anthony Blinken, in turn, noted: “I am very pleased to be here, I am glad to have yesterday’s meetings both on a bilateral basis and, of course, with our colleagues from C5 + 1. And I agree with you — I think there was a huge awareness among the C5+1 countries of both common challenges and common goals.”
Bakhtiyor Saidov noted after the talks that the parties agreed to join the efforts of the two countries in order to create better conditions for business exchanges, build up the human resources potential of Uzbekistan, strengthen regional security in Central Asia and in other areas.
Uzbekistan highly appreciates the unwavering and full support provided by the US government to the course of reforms of the President of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek Foreign Minister noted.
