An online meeting of the Interparliamentary Friendship Group of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis with Tajik parliamentarians was held

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 September 2020, an online meeting of the Interparliamentary Friendship Group of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan U. Inoyatov with Tajik parliamentarians was held with the participation of the Deputy Speaker of the lower chamber of the Parliament of the Republic Tajikistan Mansuri Dilrabo Saidullo.

The event was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan Sodik Imomi.

During the online meeting, the achieved results in bilateral cooperation, the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue, the provision of mutual support by the parties within the framework of international organizations, the establishment and strengthening of mutually beneficial trade and economic, political, legal and cultural and humanitarian ties were especially emphasized.

The sides expressed their readiness to continue building up inter-parliamentary partnership on a wide range of issues of mutual interest.

During the talks, the importance of further deepening inter-parliamentary ties in expanding bilateral cooperation was noted, since it is they who play an important role in the early ratification of international treaties for the further expansion of bilateral cooperation in all areas.

Concern was expressed about the scale of the spread of coronavirus in the world. The parties informed each other about the measures being taken in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to counter this global threat. The special role of parliamentarians in the fight against coronavirus, aimed at preventing the negative consequences of the pandemic, was emphasized.

In the same vein, attention was focused on the need to intensify bilateral cooperation in order to prevent the negative impact of the pandemic on trade and economic relations between the two countries.

The parties agreed to further support the initiatives of both countries at the sites of international organizations.

The parliamentarians confirmed their mutual determination to actively develop full-scale cooperation between the two countries.

At the conclusion of the online negotiations, mutual commitment was confirmed to the comprehensive strengthening of relations and practical cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Tajikistan.
